i know some people who ride on short Mountain but i heard it is rocky and has steep grades. Mot a fan of that. Hopefully the weather will cool off a bit and maybe we can hook up, Do you trailer to the nursery or ride there from your house? I am near centertown, are you near there?

Lucy  do you know if any trails around your area to ride.  I want to say I've heard of a set of trails there but can't remember the name.  I'm thinking it was something like Lowman mountain.

Lucy:  See the directions I just posted on the PWHAT Campfire site for the Williamsport Ride.  We will be riding around the lakes on this management area owned by Tennessee.

no i'm not a memeber of PWHAT.  i have taken my female golden to East Fork and she enjoyed one day. The rest of our stay, she spend sleeping at our barn until we got back. She didn't find enough water there to really enjoy more than one day.  Long C is a great place to take your trail dogs.  They're one of my favorite camp grounds when it comes to the dogs.  I'm riding with the Women on the Edge group in KY this weekend.  I've heard a lot about the fun they have on their rides and have decided to check it out.  Maybe we'll meet on the trail sometime.

I love my goldens too.  the dark red was the first one I ever had and I got her 4.5 yrs ago.  The blonde was a stray saved at the last minute from death at the shelter by a freind.  Then she decided she couldn't keep him and now he lives with me.  They go with me riding whenever they can.  Many camps don't allow the dogs to run free so I limit where I take them.  They also request places with lots of water. ha ha.  What type of horses do you ride and where are your favorite places?

The first PWHAT ride is at Stones River East Fork Boat Dock on March 5, 2011 and starts at 10:00 am.  Directions are on the website of PWHAT.com under the tab of trail rides.  Most of our rides start at 10:00 on Saturdays and we stop on the trail for a saddle bag lunch. There are a couple of rides planned that are week end trips and I will be writing about them later.  Thank you for your inquiry.

Lucy, The trails are outside of Tracy City on Hwy 41S. IF you can find your way to Tracy, then you can get directions from there. They have asked to bring groups of 8 or more due to the fact they are private guided trail rides. Shrum Farm also breaks and trains, horses and mules. When a trail ride takes place, this takes away from them training horses. There are a few of us going up Saturday to ride, if you would like to come along. We have to be to the barn by 9 am for the ride. Let me know if you want to come. 931-308-0945. Happy Trails, Christa
