Hey Keith, Great photo's,looks like you had a great time at East Fork!!!!! We had a great time too, but my little mare tried to collic on me. Luckily we had a vet with our group and he took care of her. She's in good condition, so I don't know what happened!!!! We rode to the eye of the needle, double arches and I wanted to see the o&w railway bridge, but because she got sick ,I did'nt get to!!! So I will have to go back sometime. Would've like to have met you, maybe in the future, when we go back to East Tennessee,I'll let you know!!! It is beautiful in East Tennessee and so many horse camps to try out!!! Talk to you later,Audrey

Yeah, that's kinda what I do . I try to go to Buffalo River once or twice a month, if money allows!!!! I meet a few of my friends and ride all weekend. We like to take our young horses and get them trail broke there. The trails range from easy to seriously rough!!!!! If you get on Buffalo River trail ride Inc. website and look at the pictures, I'm on my buckskin and white, riding next to a lady on a black and white, going down the road, she has a helmet on and I do not. And they have another picture of me on my Sorrel overo paint horse , in front of the bluffs at the river. He has blue eyes and I have on a greyish sweater jacket. I wish I knew how to put pictures on this website but, I don't know how yet!!!! Gotta go feed the herd, Audrey

Hey Keith, You'll be uptown then, if you get a living quarters trailer!!!Ha-Ha!!!! That would be nice if you do a lot of camping, camp in style!!!! I just have a sundowner 3 horse slant/dressing room, but I had my trailer insulated and a air/heat strip put on it. I also put an awning, hay rack, and a loading ramp on it.I might as well have gotten a LQ trailer for what all them add ons cost me !!!HA-HA!!!! It's ok for the amount of camping I get to do. What kind of trailers are you looking at? You can get some good deals right now!!! Talk to you later, Audrey

Hey Keith, Just saw your pictures, nice mule!!!!! What area were you in ,at the Big South Fork? I can't wait till Labor Day, I love East Tennessee, to go riding in. I ground drove my mule again, she's doing good. I really hope she will make a good riding mule and be gaited!!!! Your mule looked pretty tall in the picture, how many hands is he or she? Do you use a saddle with a mule tree in it, or a regular saddle? Can you recommend a good saddle to ride mules with?Talk to you later, Audrey

Keith, I think there will be around 8 to 12 people going together. Mostly gaited riders. We are a friendly bunch, so you would be welcomed to ride with us. I have a meredith Hodges book, but it does'nt say to much about their personalities. I think mules like to play little games with you, their not really being mean or bad. I just don't want to be too hard on her, how much correction , is too much??? For a mule, that is?????? I got on my two year old spotted walker this weekend, he could've cared less. I'm glad about that, cause I'm getting to old to be breaking young spirited horses!!!!! Glad you had a good ride this weekend, the weather was perfect!!! Me and my sister hauled to the Why Not Ranch, paid our riders fee, went to get on and my sister forgot her bridle. I offered her my bridle, and I was gonna ride with my halter and lead rope. But she did'nt want to,so all we could do was load back up and come home. BUMMER!!!!! So my weekend was a bust, except for starting my young horse!!!!! My main ride has a loose shoe, and my paint has pulled a muscle or something. I hope the farrier can come ASAP, so I don't miss getting to ride over the next few good riding weather days!!!!!HA-HA !!!!! Ok,I've got to go feed the herd now. Talk to you later, Audrey

Hey keith, My mule usually behaves herself as far as her ground manners go. But every once in a while, she decides she's not going to go back in the field, she'll walk halfway out of her stall, then she realizes I'm putting her up instead of working with her and she will back into her stall, refusing to budge.Or when I put her back in the field, she tries to bump the gate before I can chain it back and come out. Is this normal for a mule to behave like this?Like I said she usually behaves herself, with no problems. Is she testing me or what? Is she disrespecting me? How should I handle this kind of behavior? Sorry that I have so many questions, but I just want to do the right thing by my mule.I know I have her trust and I feel she likes me , so why does she want to be defiant sometimes? I would really appreciate any feed back on this matter!!!! Have you found anybody up your way to ride with yet? I'll talk to you later, Audrey

Hey Keith, No , we just gait a little here and there, no speed demons in my group!!!! We enjoy a nice slow gait going down a long stretch, my friend will be riding a young horse, so we will have to take it easy on him. My mare is most comfortable at a slower gait, so I like to hold her there!!! I have some friends that live about 6 miles from East fork. We came for a visit and rode a little at East Fork, but they are in their 70's and we rode an easy trail. I might come up for an organized ride someday. How do you like to ride? We might be too mild!!!Ha-Ha !!! Audrey Rody

The more the merrier, we will be riding gaited horses,on this trip!!! There will be about six of us friends together. I can't get there till Saturday morning, because my friend is going with me and she has to work on Friday. We are leaving Monday. I have two double registered, spotted walkers/spotted saddle horses. One is buckskin/white and one is black/white. I just got a solid black walker filly , she's 15 months old. I have a sorrel overo with blue eyes, paint, he's a gelding. Last but not least my grey mule. If she turns out to be a good mule to ride, I'll probably make her my main ride!!!!! Alright, Talk to you later, Audrey Rody

Keith, Actually we are going to Honey Creek on the Labor Day weekend. That's at the Big South Fork, you probably know where it's at. Several of my friends are getting together to ride. I've been to Timberidge, East Fork and now Honey Creek.I really like the riding up there, very scenic and beautiful!!!! My mule is suppose to be a gaited mule, but I can't tell by just watching her move. Someone told me that you can't tell sometimes until you ride and set them up to gait. I hope she is gaited, but I'd love her just the same, even if she's not. I have her doing tricks, I walk her up to an over turned water trough and ask her to step up, and she loves to do it.She always wants to do her tricks, and she is also very spoiled.I've got her pretty desenitized, like I can use my leaf blower all over her, she does'nt care!!!!! She's getting pretty tall to, I think she's around 15Hh's now. Let me know about your mules, what kind, color and size are they? What type horses do you ride? I ride gaited and non-gaited. Anyways , I could go on and on forever, but I'll spare you!!!!Ha-Ha!!!!!Talk to you later, Audrey Rody

Hey Keith, Welcome To The Tennessee Trail Riders!!!!! You will be able to meet lots of new riding buddies on this website, I got on here for the same reason. Where is Anderson County? I live in Maury County, Mule town !!!!! I just got me my first mule, I don't know alot about them, I'm learning as I go!!! But so far she's a sweet girl. I got her as a 6 month old, she's now 2. Do you train mules? I've ground drove her, saddled her, even put weight on the saddle. But I want her to mature a little more before I try to ride her. I might send her to someone to break, but I want her broke gently!!!I have a bad knee on my left leg which makes it hard to get up and down on the saddle. Do you have any training advice for me, I really don't want to mess my girl up!!! Can I comment you with mule questions? She is a beautiful grey mule , witha big wide blaze on her face, and three white socks. Her name is Jewel.I also own horses, but she's special to me!!! How do I know if she is truly bonded with me, she seems to trust me alot? I could just go on and on about my mule, but I'll spare you,ok?Ha-Ha!!!!! Keep in touch!!! Audrey Rody
