I am 46 yrs. old and I have had horses ever since I was around 8 yrs. old. If I counted how many I think I have had, it would be around 20. I've had quarter horses, donkeys, and grade horses, it didn't matter what kind, I love them all. About 12 yrs. ago a friend of mine was riding her gaited horses at a local horse show and asked me if I wanted to ride one of her mares, she was a TWH. I rode her around and from that moment I said, I have to get me a gaited horse, I had never ridden one before and I was hooked!! I now have two horses, a palomino TW mare and a gold champagne TW filly and love them both. I have MS so the horses are such good therapy for me. They keep me going when I don't feel I can go anymore, which is a good thing.
The only people that understand a love for horses are us that own them. They are magnificent animals and I will always have one, even if I can't ride, I just enjoy grooming and looking at them.

Kyle, you gotta join us sometimes, we ride alot down in Maury County and Hickman county. We ride almost every weekend. I will post my rides on this website, as I did last weekend so be sure to join us sometime. Initiation is 3 cold ones for all senior riders. :-)

Katie, welcome to the world of gaited horses. Your experience sounds just like the one I had eight years ago. One note of caution: All Gaited Horses Are NOT Created equal, some will bump you all over, some can be as smooth as silk. Happy riding to you!!

I love horses, they are my passion and I have always wanted to ride, and always got bounced to death on other horses. Saturday was a week ago, I went on my first trail ride ever, riding a TWHorse. He made me look like I knew what I was doing and he was smooth as silk. There were 5 mares 2 geldings and 2 stallions and he was one of he stallions, he was a perfect gentleman.

That's great that you have found a therapy in horseback riding. They are truly a blessed animal and give just much love as they get. Where do you ride at mostly? I live in Eagleville which is pretty close to Leipers Fork. Take care.

Hi Mike,
My friend is Roxanne and she lives on Carter's Creek Pike. She has a 14 yr. old daughter that rides too. I sent her an invite and am waiting for her to join. You would like her, she's awesome.
See ya,
Rose

Who is your friend in Leipers Fork? We used to live on a farm there, on Leipers Creek Rd, until a few years ago but we're still out there a lot. Now we live about 4 miles from there. Most of my riding buddies live in Leipers Fork, hah, I just had lunch there yesterday and usually meet at country boy for breakfast on Saturdays just before we ride.
I'm getting a lot of requests from our members to plan a Tennessee Trail Riders ride in the spring. I'll probably do it, and it will also give everyone a chance to meet one another. I hope to meet you then.

Best wishes,
Mike

Wow,
Sounds like you have some amazing animals. I would love to come see them sometime. I have a friend that lives out in Leiper's Fork and she has 5 horses, one is a TWH that she bought from me and I am working on getting her on this site. She took the Walker she bought from me to The Colt Center for training and she has one of the best pedigrees when it comes to TWH's and he said he couldn't get her to gait for nothing. So she is going to use her for jumping or possibly barrels or poles. I feel bad because she so wanted to experience the gaited horse as she has quarter horses.
Be looking for more peeps to get on here cuz only half of the people I have added have joined and the others will follow I'm sure. I think I have invited like 25 people! LOL
I look forward to trailing with you and meeting you and think this is a great site!!! Keep up the good work!
God Bless,
Rose

I can sure empathathize for your love for horses...they are the best therapy I have found when you're having a stressful day. My problem is that it's hard for me to ever give one up. We have 13 now and 3 more on the way...foaling season is my favorite time of the year. The same thing happened to my wife and I regarding gaited horses, we had ridden quarters and then a guy provided gaited horses and a trailer for a 25 mile ride...we went all gaited after that with TWH's, then Spotted Saddles, then Rocky Mountain horses, of course I still love quarter horses too. Now we breed "Spotted Mountain" horses. Keep writing and adding pictures to our site, sure glad to have you on the Tenessee Trail Riders network!
