Tell us something about you, anything.
We moved to Tennessee in 2006 from San Diego to finally realize our dream of having horses. I'm new to the game but I love it. I don't ever see myself without horses in my life again. There is no turning back.
Who carries your burden, who carries your load
On tumbleweed land or a long dusty road
Who asks you no questions, who tells you no lies
That four legged friend with the two honest eyes

Linda, You have never said if you tried pulling the shoes. Nora is to far to help you but Joe was just to my place and he can go to Hohenwald area. Here is his site http://naturalbarefoothooftrimming.com/ He will also do a 6 week trim schedule.

I admire your willingness to try. Reuben seems very knowlegeable and sincere and has a wealth of information. We have a 14 year old brood APHA mare with navicular on both front feet. We have her shod backwards and have her toes trimmed straight across for an easy break over. This has things manageable with her right now but we worry about the future for her since she has had navicular for a number of years and it has gotten worse. Our next move would be wedges if the current treatment stops working for her. So I am hoping there really is a cure that does not require denerving. Best wishes on your adventure!

Linda, I am curious if you ever contacted any of the TRUE barefoot trimmers? Like Jim Apple or Joe Amelang. My happiest day was when we pulled off the Navicular shoes and started getting the thrush and contracted heels cleared up. No more seeing my mare bare the pain of having the pounding of nails driven into her hooves. Yes she HATED the driving of the nails. I rode her for about a year more and now she is just retired to the pasture not due to the Navicular but because of all of her hock and fetlock damage. Her previous owner rode her hard in her younger days. Good Luck Dawn

Hi Linda, I have not been riding yet. I need to get my courage back up and sell 5 horses before I really get back into riding. I did ride my gray mare about two weeks ago and she was great. Are you and Sonny riding much? If you or Sonny need a horse I'm selling 5 and I do have a tall girl for Sonny. I hope after we do our pumpkin patch this year I will start riding weekly. Thats my plan anyway.

I guess it depends on the ride at many cedars, you can ride easy but to really appreciate the whole thing you have to do a little climbing and go over some rocky areas. Nothing dangerous or scarey! I don't do that anymore!!! I used to have the reputation for being really hard but they have dozed new trails around the really steep parts. It's a great ride. Laurel hills has free riding, Jimmy Hargrove here in town has a really pretty ride, that's a little ridgy but not bad. We are retired so can go about any time. my number is 931-505-0105 give me a call when you want to go.
