Another great ride with BGH...
Hunted at the Anderson fixture . Beautiful weather, the footing was wonderful and had several good runs. Hounds had picked up scent several times and worked well. I find that my horse is now 'super fit' and one would never know he is 20 years old ! lordy he wanted to go go go yesterday. After the hunt it was off to the BB Cafe for lunch and my favorite chocolate zucchini cake.

Next weekend is our Open Public Hunt so be sure to come and experience what its really like to foxhunt. You may be surprised

yes, yesterday was so nice - timed just right between rains - see, the saying is true - the huntsman is always right" (grin)
I'll go to my grave saying ya'll are the best group to be with.
I was so glad second flight showed up despite their worries about footing and weather. I just have to have the whips to hunt but it sure was nice to have assistence with hounds and gates from Ben, Patti and Aggie.
Whippers-in - in training put on their "big girl panties" and got the job done without help from Dale and Mary Lynne (who was very sick).
It's another step in confidence building. So glad we went out.
Hats off to the members!!

Every year I'm sad to see the season end and feel kind of "out of sorts' for a few Saturdays until I get used to not getting up to go hunting!

great report Aggie !! yes, Ben's fruit salad is the best. I know he uses a secret ingredient and won't tell us . lololol Aggies horse makes a better whip horse then mine. I was told to Get up here and keep the hounds from drifting to the right...well my horse is a field horse and he knows his job (too well) no no no, I won't go outside the hounds, I won't pass the master....finally I got him to move around the hounds and push them back to the master. Sort of like herding cows I guess lololol

We got lucky with the weather...rain stopped before we headed out and didn't pick back up until like 4pm.

I will be sad to see the season end.

Beech Grove wemt out today-our Master basically told us we were all wimps because 2ns flight (Ithe non-jumping fraternity) started whining about the weather-- but she was right, what a great day! We had a great opportunity to watch hounds work a circle around us. The older, seasoned hounds working the scent and keeping us informed: and young entry (puppies!) shrieking about anything or nothing! Children...
I got to play "Whipper in" for like 10 seconds, when the Master asked: Will you help me?" and , immediately: "Get UP THERE, please!" My horse thought is was way cool to be up by the hounds! Bless his heart, he actually think he did something.
Great fellowship afterwords. Pizza, wings, chips and dips and Ben's FAMOUS fresh fruit salad. And you could feel the snow in the air, fixin to arrive.
What a great sport.

Only 3 hunts left. Season almost over. What a good time I've had!

I'm going to try to make the hunt on March 14. My oldest daughter (almost 11) would love it, I'm sure. And I trust her horse for a first hunt more than mine!

It really does become an addiction once you get the "fever." My kids are involved, thank goodness, and I told my husband that he would have every Saturday between September and March all to himself, lol.

Addiction? Oh, no, it is quite maintainable.
BTW, what's a family? (LOL!)
Reminder the Beech Grove open to anyone hunt is MARCH 14!

I'm gearing up to go on my first fox hunt soon. I have a few friends who are avid hunters and have been coaxing me to try it. My only fear is that I will become addicted and my family will never see me on the weekends!
