Guess what guys, I have been chosen as one of the trainers for the Extreme Mustang Makeover coming in Murfressboro in Oct. I will be picking up my mustang on July 18th.

Hi All, Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I am a firm believer in Natural Horsemanship. Nothing can ever be gained by trying to get sometime uotof a horse by trying to "Beat" in out of them. Don't know anything about the Parelli guy, have watched Clinton Anderson a few times but I have have my own way for over 30 years. I got my lessons from an old guy in Eastern Kentucky Years ago. His phylosphy (I cannot spell either) was "Get into a horse's mind. Anything you want them to do, Make it their idea, and they will want to do it rather than fight you and you trying to make them do it or try to Beat them into doing it. Never and I mean NEVER beat a horse to submission. If you take their "Heart" away from them, all you have is a 1000 pounds of worthless flesh because without heart, a horse will not give you their all. Start simple and work up to the more complicated things. Time is the key, start slow and work slow. Never push a horse to hard too fast. Show them what you want and let it sink into their brain. The key is patience on your part. Horses are not mind readers either, communication is the answer to any relationship...

I just uploaded a video of the April 18th, 2009 Parelli Playdate I had this weekend at Wartrace, TN. Take a look on my page to see the video. Thank you all the people who came to my playdate. I had just as much fun watching you as you had playing with your horses with the obstacles. If anyone wants to join us for another playdate, let me know so I can plan one in the near future.

I just want to thank Mikki for allowing so many of us to have a great "1st Saturday of spring" at her place for the playdate. THANKS MIKKI!

Is there anyone in the Crossville/ Cookeville area? I'd love to plan a playday around here :). I have an "obstacle" course set up in our front pasture, perfect for practicing in :). Of course parking might be crowded, but it's been done before....

I think it's cause women tend to be more patient than men :) at least the men in my life..and natural horsemanship takes LOTS of patience.

Men are more than welcome to join! :-P The oddest thing is that most of the natural horsemanship "gurus" are male...yet most of the people following them (or admitting that they follow them! ) are female!

I just noticed that the "Horsin' Around Naturally" group is all women...I wonder why that is? LOL :-)
