Peggy - I know you have people coming out of the woodwork about horses but I can guarantee this horse. But you don't know me either. Anyways I ride most weekends on trail rides, large groups or just us. My friends have a Reg. Spotted Saddle horse gelding that they have been working on trails for the past 1 1/2 years. It goes barefoot with no problems, loves water. Loads and unloads. I've never seen them have a problem and we go ride for hours. I know they have a youtube video of him. Donna said they have him on dreamhorse and I know for sure he is on Craigslist - Huntsville and Nashville. They need to reduce the number of horses as they have 8 plus one on the way. They are mainly Foxtrotter people and just love horses and riding. The horses name is Shelby and they are on here as Ray Maurer. I just told them this past weekend they need to get rid of the other one Ray is working and keep Shelby. I like his markings better. She said they have him at $1500 now. Here is a link I hope works...

I don't know these people. This ad was posted on another board that I belong to. I have no clue what they would take for the horse but it would not hurt to contact them.

Lady is gaited, twh (no papers) and very sweet; a beginner can handle her on the trail. Not flighty and pretty easy going, excellent gait. Asking $500 OBO- VERY motivated. She is mid to low in the herd pecking order; pasture-kept and grained 2x daily. Photos available. Stabled at Jackson Stables in Moody (http://www.jacksonstables.net). First good home with a halfway reasonable offer takes her! Call 205-540-6271 (cell) or email amy.bailey@gmail.com.

I have put the word out for what you are looking for. You can email Frank Healey at myrtle1010bt@yahoo.com. He has a great gelding that is beginner/kid safe. I also received the following email this morning. Not a gelding, but sounds like something you might want to consider.

So... I was out at the barn today and found out that one of the sweet stable mares is being offered for sale. She is gaited, twh (no papers) and very sweet; a beginner can handle her on the trail. Not flighty and pretty easy going. They are asking $600 OBO- VERY motivated and I guess just trying to reduce their numbers. She is mid to low in the herd pecking order. The first pic is from early spring so she is shaggy. They have recently added another (boarder) horse to the herd which seems to be picking on her, so she has a few marks and it looks to me like some of her spring weight has been run off of her, though she is not skinny or malnourished by any means. The remaining pics were taken today. She is pasture-kept and grained 2x daily.

Christy Warren (crispy81@gmail.com) would be the person to talk to - phone is 205-540-6271.

Just sold what you were probably looking for. Have many friends with seasoned TWH trail horses and will see what I can find.

Hey Peggy, I live near Rogersville which is between Florence & Huntsville. It is approximately a 1 & 1/2 to 2 hour drive from Scottsboro. I don't know of any seasoned TW geldings at this time. My husband & I used to ride Quarter & Paints but sold them when we found good homes for them & replaced them with TWH's. I just love riding gaited horses. We have 4. I think to overcome your fear of riding, you just have to do it (just like the Nike commercial). It would be nice of you had someone who lived near you who could ride with you. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know.

Hi Peggy, I don't know of one right off. But, I will keep a watch out for you one. We have a great group we ride with. We are going to Buffalo for the 4th of July, if you can come. We love having more to join us.

Most of us have that feeling at some time or other. I made up my mind to not let fear overcome my desire to ride my horse on different types of trails/terrain. See you're from Woodville. Remember the Hodges family, by chance? My Uncle owned the service station in
Woodville.

Hey peggy, I know how you feel about the nervous thing. I love horses alot and i know i could be a good rider if I just get confidence. I get so aggrevated, because when a horse acts up or anything I get nervous. I do also get nervous when i think about riding. I wish I could just go out there and get my horse and ride by myself because of that I hardly ever ride because I have noone to ride with at all. The bad thing is I know my horse isnt going to do anything she is such a good horse but i dont know why i get nervous.
