I am not a veterinarian or a farrier but I have considerable background in both areas (learned by necessity)!
I am an infrared thermal imaging thermographer by trade.
I utilize a $16,000 thermal imaging camera in the course of my profession inspecting building problems.
For a significant period of time this equipment is not utilized as it is an investigative tool that I use to diagnose specific problems.
As a horse owner and thermographer I have first-hand…

Hey, I need some help, my daughter's spotted saddlebred likes to kick, mostly at me. I have had some near misses lately and when she was younger a direct hit. What is the best way to stop this behavior. I have had horses for years but she is the first one that has been a kicker.

I work in the public school system and can't wait to get out and ride this summer. Problem is, everybody else seems to be at work! Is there a posse of teachers eager for the trails as well? I live in Hazel Green, Alabama and ride a Spotted Saddle Horse, Dakota.

To everyone in the local area:
I know of three wonderful places to board your horses. Two of which I work at and will be running personally and one is that I just visited and it was beautiful!
Three locations to choose from. One in Dalton/Triple K Farm, this is my main barn where I will be living and running full time. Boarding, lessons, horse shows, and training for any horse will be available in June. Reasonable rates, insurance, lots of riding room, big arena, barn,…

I recently hired Stronghorse Church to be my farrier. He has been studying with Jim Apple and is very, very good and reasonably priced. I have hired him to come out to College Grove to trim my horse and two others. Currently, he travels from Ashland City, so he is having to charge a small trip charge. I told him I would reach out on this site to see if anyone in the College Grove, Chapel Hill, Franklin area is looking for a barefoot farrier that would be interested in getting on his schedule so…

I'm interested in how ground tying is taught. I have not seen any training videos on it. Please tell how you have done it, or where I might find information about it.

Anyone that lives around here and shows horses knows that there are VERY FEW shows that have draft horse classes. Murray County Saddle Club (I am a member) has a few classes in their open horse show for the mules and drafts. We showed our big boys there and did very well and had a lot of fun! Bring your horses to their monthly open horse shows and don't forget the WAGON TRAIN! This is held in Chatsworth GA by the way. Check out their website for more info or just ask…

Hey all, I've been traveling in Ireland for the past week and have been amazed to see the cattle population. Sure enough, everyone probably knows that there are far more sheep (>8M) than people (5.6M) in Ireland but there's also cows about everywhere you look. Most of them seem to be dairy cows but i see a lot of herefords and black angus too. The cattle are quite large (tall and fat). Horses are popular in Ireland and quite revered, there is a big horse racing interest here. The pastures…

As I sit here everyday 7:30 to 4 in my office in Princeton NJ I dream of my trail rides with my sister in TN. I will never forget pulling that first hill on Slick in Normandy. I almost peed myself! I have ridden trails in Jersey for 30 years but I had never ridden hills before. I did not relize that Slick had committed himself to his path up and I tried to rein him an easier way. I still remember Lorianna's face when she said something like "You better get going up that hill, never stop on the…

I'm looking for a very smooth gaited horse to trail ride that doesn't mind being ridden alone and/or with other horses. I prefer to have a gelding but would consider a mare between 14.2 to 15.2 hands tall with no bad habits.
My e-mail address is lex24485@yahoo.com
