Linda Grajewski LAUREL HILL RIDE

We had 15 riders at Laurel Hill Saturday as we rode the New Trail. For 2 of our riders it was either their first trail ride or first of that level. Everyone made it safely and we had a great time together. It was a little warm but not bad because we have so much water there for the horses and big shade trees. I believe as this trail is ridden it will become a favorite for everyone. I am going to try and organize at least 1 ride per month. If you could not make it this time, hope you will join us… Continue

"Horses are the dolphins of the plains, the spirits of the wind; yet we sit astride them for the sake of being well-groomed, whereas they could have all the desire in the world to bolt, but instead, they adjust their speed and grace, only to please us, never to displease." - Lauren Salerno

Rose Higgins The Amazing George

I have been working with my new horse "George". He hasn't been riden in five years. I have only had him a couple of weeks but I ride him for at least a few minutes every day. usually he will go in a big counter clockwise circle and gets mad when I won't let him eat grass while we're working. My friend helped me last weekend with getting him to go right and this weekend, it was like all of the sudden he remembered. I had him going left, right, back, forward, at a canter and he picked up the on

DONNA ARRINGTON When is it to hot to ride?

This requires some common sense as well as the information we will give you. Common sense pertains to how well your horse has been conditioned and how well you can interpret signs of distress and possible heat exhaustion in your horse. Temperature alone is not the guide but the combination of temperature and humidity. Temperature and humidity affect the way a horse eliminates heat during exercise. When the relative humidity exceeds 75 percent, the effectiveness of cooling by sweating is greatly… Continue

Linda & Jessica Suitable places to ride for beginners??

After pestering so many of you for riding partners I am pleased to announce we've ridden for the last 3 weekends straight, and plan on riding again tomorrow too. :-) Our group consists of 2 mature ladies, (one of which was struck by a car while riding, killing the horse and busting her up pretty bad), two teen riders with little experience and no fears, and a 10 year old inexperienced rider with a pushbutton horse. We need to call ourselves "The Apple Dumpling Gang"! I am trying to locate sui

Linda Grajewski Horse for Lease/Care

Ok guys I need your help...I have a really great double registered Palomino Quarter Mare. I trained and showed her English, Western and Dressage (she placed in everything) but since I got into TN Walkers she has become a pasture ornament. I usually get her out a couple of times a year and let kids or green riders ride her around. Other than that she just stands in the pasture. I do not want to sell her but would let the right person lease her for care only. She has some arthritis in back hip, so… Continue

Linda & Jessica Spanky Osborne benefit trail ride

We went to the benefit ride yesterday and I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful time!! We were treated with helpful understanding advise, and even loaned breaststraps to finish the ride with. We were admittedly the greenhorns on this one, and unprepared, but have every intention of getting better with time.I wish Spanky the best of luck in the months ahead, and a speedy recovery. I am also impressed with the generousity of neighbors and friends who hosted and attended this ride and auc
