I am not from VA. From Jonesborough, TN. We just love riding the VA Highlands, especially, a fall ride. Always stay at Hungry Horse East, formerly Hungry Horse Ranch. Beautiful campground, quiet, great stalls! Wonderful access to Highlands trails.

Dusty - this is why my horses are barefoot. The following video shows a hoof where the frog touches the ground and absorbs impact and then when a shoe is added that stops the frog from making contact. A shoe will also stop the hoof wall from flexing as it is meant to do. There is some blood...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df1w7dUoATM&feature=PlayList&p=27A37932A7BEC602&index=4
We have a very good barefoot trimmer in our area - Joe Amelang, cost is $35 but don't have shoes falling off to be reset. I do every 6 weels.

Hi -- just a quick note to let you know the Cumberland Classic will be at the same location next April 1-3. It is Easter weekend, but the show is Thur-Sat. Hope to see you there.

I'm looking for a saddle for a friend's mule but I'm gonna need one myself in a year or so. I bought my first mule ever, she was 6 months when I got her. She is now 2 years old.But I have found out they are a lot different from horses,in a lot of ways.I love my mule and want to make sure I get the right saddle, mules don't respond well to pain. They have a straighter back than a horse ,some people do use horse saddles, but I'm gonna get one with a mule tree in it.I don't want to give her an excuse to act up,by an ill fitting saddle!!!!HA-HA!!! So thanks again, I do appreciate that you commented,Audrey

Dusty, I have a Tennessean saddle for my walker. I always thought a Tennessean was for a more narrow whithered horse.I think she wants a mule tree ,mule saddle to better fit a straight back. Thanks for your comment, but I'm not sure that saddle will work.Audrey
