Many Cedars has improved their trails greatly. We are also trying to get them to tie into the Laurel Hill trails. There is no camping at Laurel Hill so that would be a win/win situation.

Sorry, missed that. Yes, Williamsport Lakes and Laurel Hill have posted closed dates for hunting. Yanahli does not at present. Thanks Dawn for catching that. My eyes are not what they used to be. LOL

Williamsport Lakes and Yanahli are closed for hunting. But, dates are very limited and usually have days during the week you can ride. Yanahli is open even during hunting. If I ride there I usually go from about 11am-3. As not much hunting goes on d…

Thanks Alice. I have just been feeling overwhelmed and not enough help to keep these trails up, especially the ones that need mowing. It was interesting in the debate last night they made the statement that for every $1 or money spent in a tourist a…

I have been an avid (some might say rabid) horse lover since my first at age 5. I had much rather be riding my horse in a wilderness area and sharing a sack lunch with fellow horse lovers than any mall or exculsive restaurant. I could ride all day every day! Love to share with other riders.

Horse for Lease/Care

Ok guys I need your help...I have a really great double registered Palomino Quarter Mare. I trained and showed her English, Western and Dressage (she placed in everything) but since I got into TN Walkers she has become a pasture ornament. I usually get her out a couple of times a year and let kids or green riders ride her around. Other than that she just stands in the pasture. I do not want to sell her but would let the right person lease her for care only. She has some arthritis in back hip, so… Continue

ANYONE GOING TO SHAWNEE NEXT WEEK?

Several of us from Maury County are going to Shawnee on Oct. 30? We will be staying at Hayes Canyon. Anyone else going to be in that area? We have been there once before but still have a lot to learn about the trails and area.
Blessings, Linda

New Mexico Trail Riding Trip

I have just returned from my first riding trip in NM. It was incredible!! I will post pics on my site this week. My friend's place was about 7000 ft elevation and we rode up to 9-10,000 ft. It was beyond anything I have ridden and I feel so blessed. We even saw a large elk herd one day. Attached is a poem God gave me to share about this experience. I pray each of you may be so blessed.

silver ash would be excellent for horse trailer camping! no hunting allowed on ranch but adjoins national forest on backside that may (I don't know) allow hunting. call Hilary direct, her computer has been in the shop, back out, and broke again, just out of warrenty! 662-333-9419, the web page has it transposed and cell reception stinks out there. while you're visiting, drop by my business, angel wings greenhouse in byhalia. tell Hilary I sent you. happy trails!

This horse camp is on the south side of i-40 between Jackson, Tn and the Tn River Bridge. Roughly halfway between Nashville and Memphis. I can't remember the exact exit number. It is not as big as Wranglers Camp at Land Between the Lakes but has el/water hook ups. They have stalls across the park but I always picket mine at my campsite. Horses can go barefoot and they don't require health papers. It is a couple of hours drive for us. Glad to hear u had a nice, cool ride. Hot and muggy are here.LOL

Hi LInda, Your mare sounds really nice. We had to put my qh mare of 26 years down two years ago due to kidney failure. I had had her since she was 7. She was my only horse for years and we had many miles together. So I can sincerely understand your concern for your mare. We got my husband a qh gelding that is 9 and they are doing fine so far. But he said said his back hurt after ridding so that is why I had thought about a gaited horse for him. We are going to Natchez Trace next weekend and we will see how it goes there. I have been the caretaker for my elerly parents and have not ridden very much in the past several years. But my Dad passed in March 2008 and my Mom passed in March this year so I will be able to resume riding again. I have found myself to be out of condition for riding too. LOL. I used to ride almost every day, now just a few hours makes me hurt, even with a flex tree saddle. If you so not find a home for your mare, I may get back with you. It would be nice to meet you. Do you ever go to Natchez Trace? Elaine

Hi Linda,

I am so excited to have found this site and to connect with other "horsey" people. We look forward to going on many rides across TN. We are going on one this weekend with SSHBEA. Hopefully we will see you on horseback soon.

I ended up riding our 3 year old APHA filly on Friday due to fact my SSH mare had a runny eye (I think allergies). It has cleared up over the weekend. Our filly is extremely quiet and I had a nice ride even though I did get nervous a few times I was able to work through it. The ride began and ended in prayer. I have hired an instructor to trail ride with me for awhile to help me through the rough parts when I begin to tense and make my horse nervous. I believe God sends us exactly what we need when we request it, even if it is not what we want. We will ride again today. I am planning to ride one of my gaited horses. Thank you again for your support and prayer.
