Does anyone have any experience camping and riding at the TSALI recreation area?  I'd like to plan a trip there sometime and would appreciate any information anyone can share.

Blue Ridge Trail Riders is a Knoxville group.Check their website they ride Bakers creek and all around  that area also check local groups of Back Country Horseman.They ride and take care of trails in National forest areas.

I will definitely have to return, because we must not have ridden far enough. We only rode about 6 hours a day. Thanks for the details, I can't wait to return.

Rhonda, You must have missed the majority of the trails there. While there are large gravel and dirt roads passing through their lands, the majority of the riding there is on the wooded trails. They have trails that range from easy through the forest riding to steep cliff steps that only the bravest riders attempt. If you look at their trail map, the green and red trails are the most challenging both in elevation change and in obstacles. There are old homesteads, hay barns, lily-laden ponds, caves, waterfalls, golden fields, broad streams, even wetlands all over their lands and the trails go right through them. What I have found is that if you do not get going early and ride at a good pace, you won't have time to really venture out to the best of the trails as they range quite far. Since so many people ride there, the primary access trails are broad and well used and can be deep with mud on wet weekends. If you can get on past these, it is a heaven on earth. I'd be glad to meet you there sometime and take you out!

This year was my first trip to East TN and it was beautiful!!! Can't wait to go back. Please forward me any and all places you think are great to ride in East TN, share your riding experience. We rode at East Fork stables and the facilities were awesome, although the trails were mainly roads, and I am used to riding more aggressive trails, it was still beautiful!
