Hello guys!  Congrats Hilda on your last win!  Michael and I both have really enjoyed the rides.  We have also been on 3 so far this year.  I have to agree with Hilda.  We get up real early to get…Continue

Had a blast at the Katlyn Rides last weekend.  Thank you to Lyn and all her staff for the wonderful experience.

Had fun catching up with everyone.  Thanks for all your suggestions for my future rides.  Still open to suggestions.

I recently posted two rides on actha.us, May 5 & 6, 2012 at Many Cedars Campground.

Just finished two ACTHA CTC's at the Patterson Ranch in in Charlotte TN.  I had a great time.  The Patterson's and extended family were really accomodating and happy to see everyone.  The trails are beautiful.  I really enjoyed seeing all of my fellow ACTHA riders.  Happy trails to everyone.  Can't wait till the Katlyn rides in OCT.

Sharon, I am really glad that you had a good time.  The rain on Sunday just served to cool things off.  I like the idea of having state year end awards.  It will give those of us who can't travel to rides all over the place a chance to earn enough points to be competitive.  We had 10-12 rides last year in Tn, so I don't think getting up five will be a problem.    I am already working on my rides for next spring.  I doubt I can do one in the fall as well.   happy riding.

Hey folks....If you didn't get to go to the ACTHA ride at Many Cedars, you missed a great, well organized ride.  Weather was great, alittle rain on Sunday, nothing we can't handle.  Kinda glad to see the changes in the ACTHA rules, going to start this year giving out awards by state, each state has to have at least 5 rides a year....shouldn't be a problem for Tennessee.  I tried to talk Ms. Stephanie into hosting another ride this fall....

The Maury Magic Riders CTC's went very well last weekend.  The folks at Many Cedars were great, and the food was good.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.  A big THANK YOU to those who helped out and to those who rode.  We'll do it again next year.

Thanks for the comments everyone.  I hope that my rides are fun for everyone.  We will do our level best to be on time for everything.  My husband and I rode the trail yesterday to make sure it did not recieve any major damage.  There were several trees down, but any that were blocking the trail have been removed.  We will be marking the trail the day before the ride.  We will have people posted in the tricky spots, so maybe no one will get lost.  We will be having a campfire social Saturday evening, and Sunday morning we will have cowboy church, so plenty of time to socialize.  We have a lot of great prizes, including an Oster clipper set, jewelry from Helm's jewelry, 12 bottles of Detangle and Shine from Cowboy Magic, many bags of shavings from Callaway Farms, and much more, from Columbia Farm Supply, Columbia Farmers Coop, Pearl Vision, and others.  Unless our numbers go crazy, I expect everyone to be able to take home at least a small prize.  I plan on this being a fun time for everyone.  Can't wait to see everyone again.

In response to Stephanie's question

1.  Organization- as Hilda said the riders make plans around posted times and may even have other obligations.  Although relaxed is important starting at posted times is appreciated

2.  Obstacles that offer a challenge (at least a few).  Being creative and having either more obstatcles to test the horse/rider team or a variety of required skills rather than 4 or 5 using the same skill set makes the ride enjoyable

3.  Well marked trails

4.  Evening social time

5.  Prizes - I am not a big supportor of the ACTHA bucks which require further expenses on my part to use them and the quick expiration dates.  A treat to take home is a treasure even if it is something inexpensive

I do love the ACTHA rides- they give me motivation to work on skills with my "boys", a chance to get on trails that I might not explore, new friends,  improved horse knowledge and stress relief.  Can't wait until the Many Cedars ride!
