There is a new rule by TNCMSA, recently in effect, that you can not tie your horse to your trailer during a shoot at Hyder Burke arena in Cookeville, even if you are a local just attending for the day, not staying overnight. We took 3 horses to the shoot last Sat , 2 of them just for experience, and they wanted us to pay $40 EACH for a stall. We have barrel raced at that arena for more years than TNCMSA has even been around and have NEVER been forced to rent a stall (they don't even have enough stalls). I would much rather tie my horse to my trailer for short time while it is not being ridden than put it in a stall that many other horses with numerous sickness/disease have been kept in. You should not be required to expose your horse to an environment like that for no reason other than money for the club. Their entry fees are already among the highest, now this. So if you go to TNCMSA at Hyder Burke arena and are local or do not stay overnight, put an extra $40 in your budget for the day.
